A persona is a fictional character that represents a real customer type. The persona is described in detail, including name, age, work, living situation, and hobbies.

The description of a persona is created based on (research into) customer profiles.

These profiles can be built from information such as socio-demographic data obtained from audience research. Very specific profile information can also be gathered, such as the interests of the target audience, by analyzing internet behavior through cookies. The more accurate the profiles are, the more precisely the persona can be described, and the more effectively it can be used by publishers and advertisers.
