Short introduction
- What are you proud of?
- That I am responsible at Brightfish for the very first cross-media attention study in Belgium. Started in 2016, then updated in 2018 when we mapped the cost of an effective view per medium. Still relevant and much discussed.
- In your free time, what do you like to do most?
- Watch movies (at the cinema, of course!) Spend time with family and friends, play board games. I'm also an avid quizzer.
- Did you know that I…
- ... I own a ridiculously vast collection of Gremlins stuff?
- Where would you go in a time machine and with whom/why?
- I do like traditional Japan. The Edo period (from 17th century onwards), when the civil wars were over and a united and stable Japan emerged. Seems amazing to me!
Guy's Recommendations
- What is your favourite movie?
- This question is impossible to answer.... Choose one?! Here's an attempt at an answer (but with a lot more films... Sorry...). Gremlins comes to mind, because I have a nostalgic link with it above all. I am a big fan of Denis Villeneuve's films (Sicario, Bladerunner 2049, Arrival, ...). David Fincher can't do anything wrong either (Seven, Social Network, Gone Girl, Zodiac, ... ). I'm also a gigantic fan of A24, an original production company best known for films like Midsommar, Hereditary, Uncut Gems, and multiple Oscar winner Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. This year, I'm especially looking forward to Dune 2 (by Villeneuve!) and Civil War, a film by Alex Garland, whom we know from Ex-Machina, Annihilation and 28 Days Later. So that makes it 17...
- What book would you recommend?
- Books have been released from the Halo gaming series. In fact, all the books by author Eric Nylund are top fiction, even if you haven't played the games, or if you're not a gamer at all. Highly recommended. Start with The Fall of Reach.
- Can you recommend a good restaurant?
- Mosquito Coast in Ghent. Not super fancy, but nice decor, tasty dishes, very varied, with influences from all over the world, friendly people. What more could you want?
- Do you have another cool tip for us?
- I'm going to stick to films. The following are still being released this year. You may not have heard of them yet, but in my opinion, they'll be more than worthwile! - The Iron Claw - Wicked Little Letters - Monkey Man - Civil War - Furiosa - Eden - The Life of Chuck
Last but not least
- What is your favourite quote?
- "Be water, my friend" (Bruce Lee)
