SVOD (Subscription Video on Demand)

A business model for delivering over-the-top content (OTT).

Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD) is a service that allows you to subscribe and gain access to video content. By paying a fixed monthly fee, you can watch unlimited content, usually without any advertisements. Netflix is the most well-known example of this.

SVOD in Belgium

In Belgium, Netflix is the most popular SVOD service. In 2024, nearly half (42%) of Belgian households had a paid or trial subscription to the service (source: CIM Establishment Survey 2024).

Another major player is Streamz, the SVOD service from Telenet and DPG Media, which offers an extensive library of both international series and local productions. Streamz collaborates with partners such as HBO and VRT to deliver exclusive content to the Belgian market.

Additionally, other SVOD services like Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video are also increasing their presence in Belgium.
